Our Story

In 2003, we founded Smart Start Family Childcare, as a licensed Child Care Home. Having a degree in Early Childhood Education, I saw that there was a need to educate the children in my care by way of Learning Through Discovery. In 2010 I trained as a Montessori guide and transitioned from Smart Start Family Childcare Home to Smart Start Montessori Home School.

We started humbly in our home in the Villages of Fox Hollow, in Forney. As word of mouth quickly spread and our waiting list grew, we moved to a larger facility to better accommodate our students.

In 2014, we moved to our new location on FM 1641 right after Helms Trail, and before I-20, where we started our new journey as Smart Start Montessori School and the first Montessori School in Forney.

In our new environment, we have the space and means to offer Montessori education to 85 students from ages 14 months to 12 years old. We have enjoyed 14 years of success serving the Forney area and the surrounding communities.

In August 2023, we added our first Montessori elementary program in Forney, which serves students from ages 6 years to 12 years old.
